Sir William Osler Quote

Sir William Osler, 1st Baronet, born on July 12, 1849 and died on December 29, 1919, was a Canadian physician. He made many quotes but not all of his quotes I agree with.

Sir William Osler Quote

Promenade Sir iWlliam Osler's aim was to follow his father into the Anglican ministry and to that end he entered Trinity College, Toronto which is now part of University of Toronto, in the autumn of 1867.

The life of Sir William Osler is not simple. It is filled with success. Sort of. Osler was a prolific author and public speaker and his public speaking and writing were both done in a lucid and easily understandable style. His most famous work, 'The Principles and Practice of Medicine' quickly became a reference to students and clinicians alike. 1732 sir william osler.

But there is one Sir William Osler quote that I do not agree with. It goes like this:

We are here to add what we can to life, not to get what we can from life.

Nowadays, this is not true anymore. The demands of living is really very high. Money ranks top. Everything is expensive. Without money, we cannot live at all. And to get money, we need to get what we can from life, so that we at least have a life. If we do not have a life, how can we add what we can to life?

I know money isn't everything and there are some other very important things as well. But it seems that in this day and age, money is "almost" everything. Sir William Osler would notice this if he were to be still alive.
