PSP Game Development Troubles
| |
My final project for my degree in Multimedia and Game Design required me to do a PSP game. After lots of research on it, I found out that it is more toward the impossible side...
PSP Game Development Troubles
The road is tough. You see:
1. I can make it a homebrew PSP Game but that is not really approved by Sony and there isn't much documentation about it so it will be hard to learn it... and not to mention time-consuming.
2. To really make official PSP Games, we need to setup a company and buy expensive PSP game development tools from Sony, and I don't think that will be an option either.
3. I can make PSP Flash games. Probably the best option here, but then PSP is lousy when it comes to running Flash. It will lag and we will need to reduce graphics, frame rate and mathematical functions. This is because instead of using its powerful processor to run flash, it just lets its browser's flash plugin do the job. And that job isn't much of an awe. And furthermore, it can only accept input from the analog stick, d-pad and X key. The rest of the buttons are reserved for the PSP web browser used to play the flash game and therefore, cannot be used in the game. Pretty much useless.
But with my brain, I will come up with something. I always did in the past and will always do. Stay tuned for updates. My project team will work on it and I will post the PSP game online once it is ready.
