Chess - Never Give Up

I was playing chess at Viwawa.com earlier today and I learned a very important and valuable lesson. Let me share it with you.

Chess - Never Give Up

Have you ever been in a situation in chess when you are down one or two pieces and you know you will eventually lose? Most players will just resign and move on. I was in the same situation earlier today. I made a mistake and was down one rook. I had one rook and a queen. My opponent had two rooks and a queen. I thought I might just resign and find another opponent, but I decided not to quit and to just hang in there.

I stopped being creative and ditched any idea of trying to get even or turn the tables. All I did was defend defend defend. My opponent kept attacking my king and in the end, he made a mistake too. And that cost him his queen. I was winning as a result. In the end I won the match.

The lesson here? Unless you are in a rush or just playing for fun or have lost the heart to play, you should always continue even if in a losing situation. If you made a mistake, remember that your opponent can make a mistake as well!
