Malaysian Election 7 sins |
The Malaysian Elections and politics are a mess. Both opposition and ruling parties want to gain seats and power but so far the ruling party is still ruling but the opposition is getting powerful.Malaysian Election 7 sinsHere is my take on why the Malaysian ruling party (Barisan Nasional / BN) is still ruling but the opposition (Pakatan Rakyat / PR) is getting powerful. All this has to do with the 7 sins of mankind. The 7 sins are: greed, gluttony (hunger), sloth (laziness), wrath (anger), pride, lust (sex drive) and eny (jealousy). I do not want to say which parties are better and which ones you should vote for, but then good or bad, they will need to win seats to stay in the parliament. How do they do it? By campaigning. It seems that most urban areas are dominated by the opposition and the rural areas are dominated by the ruling party. And when the opposition parties are holding their manifesto speeches, thousands flock to listen to them, whereas the ruling parties only get a fraction of the audience and even so, the audience seems lifeless. This clearly shows multiple times more support for the opposition but yet in the end, the ruling party manages to secure 2/3 or the seats to form the government. Why? Based on the 7 sins, here's why, according to my humble opinion. All campaigns focus on the 7 sins. BN focuses on greed (giving out cash), gluttony (giving out free food), sloth (making the people work less by giving more facilities) and lust (using concerts with sexy girls. I have seen them!). PR do not have the budget for such stuff. But they are good at talking. So they focus on pride (boasting accomplishments), wrath (making people angry at ruling party) and envy (making people jealous of other countries that are ahead, and making them want to follow those countries). And BN on the other hand, are not good at those talks and as ruling party, they made those mistakes and weaknesses for PR to capitalize on in the first place! All the above works. And the population of Malaysia consists of less urban citizens who are affected by the PR focuses. So in the end, the ruling party still gets the majority! Referers Info
