Malaysian Election 7 sinsThe Malaysian Elections and politics are a mess. Both opposition and ruling parties want to gain seats and power but so far the ruling party is still ruling but the opposition is getting powerful. Some disagree but I have seen a lot of facts. But is the evolution for the better or worse? It all started when the WWX efed started having problems... Some guys think they have been unfair decisions. They should have won but they did not. They brought it up to me and I checked. Wow. Their roleplays were well-written. But they were beaten by those who did shorter ones and were unhappy, thinking the judges has some connections. What in fact went down was the judgment criteria. WWX does not favor long roleplays over short ones. And WWX does not care how much time was put into typing the roleplays. It is even advised that players do not spend so much time writing. Instead, good ideas and wow factors in the roleplay are more preferred as winners. A roleplay that is easy to grasp, with strong main points or jokes or something that the reader would care about, would win over one with some character-development story that revolves around the specific character only, like in his home or hangout. When I read roleplays, I need to travel 2 long paragraphs to get just the first part of the main point and most of the time, the main point has nothing to do with wrestling, but more to introducing the characteristics of the wrestler. They call this character-building. And the traits of the roleplay are nothing similar to what you can watch on pro-wrestling TV but more like reading from some fiction book. I call this the novelist style. Full of literary crap. Of course, it's well-written but it does not relate to pro-wrestling anymore, maybe until the last part, a little bit. But the players who favor this style disagree with the WWX judgment criteria and start some kind of revolution. I had the chance to browse around other currently running efeds and almost all the roleplays I saw were of similar style. Novels. Since when did e-wrestling become e-novel-wrestling?? But again, I thought maybe it is just me. Then I saw a blog post on a popular e-wrestling site (not efed) which has almost the same views as me. And there was even a comment: I won’t agree and say e-wrestling sucks, but it’s not as enjoyable as it used to be and I, as discussed in forums, has been the change in how efeds were viewed years ago and more importantly, the self important “character development” drive that’s been hammered down as “the way” to roleplay, and all other ways suck. Efeds weren't created because people wanted to be famous fan fic writers. we loved wrestling and that’s why efedding was fun. It was a quick, easy game then. Now.. if you’re not devoting 5000 words or more to every single RP, then “you dont have the passion” and people get all butthurt. So I was right. There has been an evolution. And because of this, e-wrestling is not fun anymore. At least not to me. And I strongly believe those who write tons and lose and say it is fun are kidding themselves. Time is seriously wasted. And even if you win, the cost is just too great. What are my plans now? Well, I have plans to start some fantasy wrestling federation where results are not determined by roleplays. Also thinking of a wrestling MMO where everyone can play. Not just those who have 36 hours a day to devote to developing their character through fictional literature. Notice I'm not even calling it e-fed anymore! E-wrestling Evolution 2012 - Novelists and Character Development?
